日照竹洞天风景区位于日照城区西端的将帅沟毛竹园，总面积1000多亩，其中毛竹面积200多亩，其他竹子面积400多亩，水域面积400多亩，是南竹北移的成功典范，被国家旅游局评为“全国农业旅游示范点”。景区绿化面积在80%以上，生长着毛竹、淡竹、斑竹、箬竹、紫竹、钢竹、金镶玉竹等100多个竹子品种。同时辟有专门的竹子品种展示区域，既是一个天然氧吧，又是一个生态植物园。
